On
the west coast, one of "the
great unknown of Fuerteventura", a small fishing village called
LOS MOLINOS (The Mills) consisting of a few simple houses to the
sea. This place is inhabited by the inhabitants of the island
in the summer months, and has a special charm. One of his "great attractions" is
its beach, which in summer is composed of brown sand, and in
which care must be taken when bathing even in summer and in
winter "becomes" a pebble beach, as the swell of
the winter takes all the sand from the beach, being
perfectly rounded basalt stones by wave action. On this beach,
we can see in your area South, when the tide is low, a series
of natural caves very interesting (but be careful and
visit them only at low tide)
In winter, this place is a good place to see the force of the
sea against the shore, take a good walk, then recuperate in a
quaint beach bar called CASA PON, which is open all year.
In this
restaurant, we eat very simple food, but tasty and very good
price (fish, salads, potatoes wrinkled lids, etc..), And what is
best, enjoying the sea, located within walking distance: a
covered terrace is spectacular ... (While you eat at this
restaurant, several ducks and geese that live in the
area come and walk among the tables to see if they get some
food. A Los Molinos is reached by
a paved road that goes right to the FV-207, near the town of Tefia, and heads
to sea (very well signposted). In the middle of this road, we
come to "The Plot", a small town in the area where we can make
a hiking trip through the ravine of Los Molinos, "a garden for
Fuerteventura," and that leads to the village of Los
Molinos.
In short: a site to visit in winter and take a stroll and
snack in the restaurant Casa Pon, or summer to visit the beach
and the caves in the area.
