In the municipality of Betancuria, and
just 2.5
kilometers from the
capital, found
one of
the only forest ecosystems that
exist in the
island of Fuerteventura.
At 450 meters
high and
surrounded by mountains,
the castle of Lara is a
leisure area in
nature, enabled for
barbecues and grills, or
just hiking in
the mountains.
This area is
fully equipped with barbecues,
tables and chairs to
eat, a
playground,
running water, toilets and parking
area, all
surrounded by a
forest of young
pines,
creating a cool,
moist microclimate particularly to
the area.
To reach this
beautiful entertainment
area, largely
unknown,
we must come
out of Betancuria Pájara done by the
FV-30. A
560 meters
on the
left, found
the entrance to a
dirt road,
which is indicated accordingly. We
will follow this forest
road about
1.5 miles until you reach the
area.
It is worth visiting this
area since
it is one of
the only forest on
the island,
and the contrast with
the rest of the
island is very significant.
From here, we
can make an easy
and interesting excursion to
the mountain to
protect the forest,
where large
antennas are
installed a phone and found about
5 miles from
where there
are magnificent views of the
downtown area of Fuerteventura.
