Before coming to Betancuria, on
Highway FTV-30, and passed Morro Velosa viewpoint, we arrive at Fuerteventura latest Viewpoint, in
which we find a pleasant surprise: besides being an excellent
viewpoint of both the northern half of Fuerteventura as
Betancuria Valley, there are two impressive bronze
statues representing the Kings of Ancient Fuerteventura before
the conquest in 1402, Ayose and Guise, who ruled the two
kingdoms which divided the island Jandia Maxorata, and were
separated by a defensive wall which is believed to have
been located where now stands this viewpoint. The statues are bronze and
measure nearly four meters high, and represent the two kings
with their staffs.
This
point has quickly become a must
for everyone in tourists from Fuerteventura, whichtakes a
picture of the hand of one of the Kings (Will be Ayose or
Guise?), So that the finger is King "polished "by the thousands
of hands that have grasped to take the appropriate souvenir
photo. The sculptures are a donation from
the company OHL, are 4.5 meters high and about 1.5 meters wide
and are the work of Emiliano Hernandez. Raised initially installed
in the square next to the conference center of the
capital, but finally opted for a flagship site and associate the
very presence of the former leaders of the Mahos.
This geographical location has also become a venue for public
events and celebrations and political claims.
