The northern area of Playa de Sotavento is known as Playa Barca and is known for being where it is celebrated every year the test scoring for the World Championship of Kiteboarding and Windsurfing, besides having one of the best located hotels in the island: Melia Gorriones.
This beach is devoted almost exclusively to the practice of these sports, and the wind is strong all year, so it's not a beach "to go in the sun" or family.

This beach is where the most important school of Fuerteventura (Rene Egli) Wind and Kite has one of its schools, and it also store tables and classrooms, there is also a hammock area with palm trees and a bar .
At the foot of the Hotel Melia Gorriones, is an interesting area and "atypical" beach area, a forest of palm trees at the foot of the lake formed at high tide.
This is the most significant lake beach for more than 80% of the surface of the beach and is a perfect area for a walk, just as there are 40 centimetres deep

My Opinion:

A giant beach, perfect for walking or to see how to practice windsurfing or kiteboarding, but always windy.
If you go with the family, the area under the palms Hotel, is perfect.
