There are six Minicipalities in Fuerteventura:
La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, Antigua, Betancuria, Tuineje y
Pajara.
La
Oliva:
The
municipality of La Oliva is located in the north of the island
of Fuerteventura, with an area of 356.13 km2 (21.5% of the
total island), including the island of Lobos. At the southern
boundary is the town of Puerto del Rosario, in a line running
from east to west through the inlet of the Good Poor Vallebrón
knife, continues to the peak of the mountain of La Muda, down
the breakwater of La Mesa to the badlands of Burnt Mountain,
reaching the west coast by the Janubio Jable.
The most important towns of this county are: Oliva, Esmeralda,
Corralejo (the most important tourist center of the north), El
Cotillo, Lajares and la Caldereta.

Puerto
del Rosario:
The
municipality of Puerto del Rosario is where is situated the
capital of Fuerteventura, with the same name as your
municipality.
It has an area of 290 km2 and is bounded on the north by the
municipality of La Oliva, and south with the municipalities of
Antigua and Betancuria. Its population is 35,000 inhabitants and
their nuclei are: Puerto del Rosario (administrative Caqpital
the island), Tetir (old town), Angel Casillas, Los Molinos, Los
Tobacconists, Puerto Lajas, Tefía and The Thicket (where we find
the Airport).
The town of Puerto del Rosario has two industrial estates on its
periphery, and a variety of shops for tourists and foreigners.
Its industrial port receives almost all goods from the mainland
and larger islands, especially Gran Canaria.
Also of interest in the waterfront promenade of beautiful design
and a special spring cruises, tourism is becoming increasingly
important

Betancuria:
Betancuria Township is located in central-west of Fuerteventura
and has an area of 103.63 km2. Bordered on the north by the
municipality of Puerto del Rosario, east to Antigua, south to
the Tuineje and Pájara and west by the sea in a line of cliffs
and rocky beaches.
The territory of this municipality is in the Massif Central
Betancuria mountain range as part of the basal complex, which is
the oldest geologic unit all the Canary Islands.
91% of the surface of the township is occupied by the Betancuria
Country Park, a protected area because of its geomorphological
and ethnographic.
Betancuria, the provincial capital is a beautiful villa that has
to his credit being the first capital of the island, more than
500 years ago. It is a pleasure to walk through its streets,
visiting ancient churches and visit the Archaeological Museum,
plus a snack in one of its bars and restaurants

Antigua:
The
town is situated in the center-east of Fuerteventura, Puerto del
Rosario borders, Betancuria and Tuineje. Is 250 km2 and
approximately 10,200 inhabitants.
Its major towns are Caleta de Fuste, prime tourist center only 8
miles from the airport, which include beaches, the promenade and
a small marina, Antigua, in the center, and other smaller towns
scattered throughout the country such as Las Salinas, Casillas
de Morales, Agua de Bueyes, Well Black or Valles de Ortega

Tuineje:
Tuineje Township covers an area of 275 km2 and a population of
13,600 inhabitants. Its economy is based on agriculture (tomato,
forage) and livestock (camels and goats in particular), with
particularly excellent about making goat cheese, which are among
the best in the world.
Its most populous city and its capital importance is not Tuineje,
but Great Tarajal, located on the coast and had a great
importance as a sea-to-market for different products that were
produced agricultural and livestock on the island in the
nineteenth and twentieth (tomato, beans, goat meat, etc..).
Actually, from this port there are several connections to Gran
Canaria and Tenerife in boats Naviera Armas

Pajara:
Pajara Township has the honor of having more miles of coastline
in Spain (170 km, of which 70 kilometers of excellent beaches
are accessible.
The key locations are: Pajara, and capital within the
municipality, Costa Calma, a first class resort with luxurious
accommodations on the beach, and Morro Jable, the village south
of Fuerteventura, where they have also with a magnificent beach
of several kilometers and first class hotels
